Český Krumlov is a quite large town (approx. 15 000 inhabitants) situated in Southern Bohemia in the Czech Republic. The historical center, added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992, is notable for its well-preserved Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. The Cesky Krumlov Castle, built in the 13th century, is the second largest castle complex in Czech Republic after Prague castle. The Vltava River flows through the amazing town.
Cesky Krumlov State Castle:
Cesky Krumlov castle complex is the most-visited attraction in town. You can walk through the castle complex without any charge. If you wish you can pay for either a guided tour of the interiors and the unique Castle Baroque Theater or pay a small entrance fee to walk up to the top of the castle tower. It is better to spend more two hours for your visit. To see all beautiful places. Walking through the red iron gates to the first castle courtyard, where is placed Unios Tourist Information center and souvenir shop etc. After crossing the Bear Moat, there is second castle courtyard features the entrance to the castle tower. Than slogging up the staircase, there is a lovely 360-degree view of the town (Cesky Krumlov). Here is also a smaller fountain, and the main ticket office. You can book castle's tours.
Across of the ticket office there is also situated the restaurant Maselnice, which offers quite tasty meals.
Regional Museum:
The Český Krumlov Regional Museum features permanent exhibitions of Bohemian antiques, geological fossils, archeological finds from the nearby Celtic oppidum, and interesting rotating exhibits of local interest.
Krumlov Tours:
This service provides a private company with English-speaking staff.
Tours run daily, and also cover the Eggenberg Brewery Tour (which last approx. an hour icluding free beer-tasting); Old Town Tour - last approx. 1.5 hour tour Ghost Tour ( approx. an hour and Rose Trail - approx. an hour).
They also offer special tours for you. Tickets are available at the Infocentrum on the town square.
ATTRACTIONS:
Horseback riding:
Opportunity to ride some beautiful horses through the local fields and forests accompanied by a guide. They provide all necessary equipment.
Unforgetable attraction - Mountain Kleť :
This mountain is the highest point in the region at 1083m. It is approximatelly 4-hour uphill and downhill tour (manl throughout the forest).
There are some green marked horizontal green lines painted on trees, which prevent you from getting lost.
There is a chance to look through the telescope which is places there as well.
Also the other interesting attraction (Rožmberk Castle) has to be mentioned. It is situated about 25 minutes from Cesky Krumlov.
This monument built in 1253, was the seat of the Rožmberk family, whose power expanded over the region of South Bohemia.
The next one is Sumava ( Bohemian Forest ):
This Forest, an excellent nature spot, one of the best places to hike or ride a bicycle in the country.
A well as Vyšší Brod:
In the summer there is other unforgetable place called Vyšší Brod, you can rent a boat from here, visit all the interesting spots, and then you can even navigate your sail for number of hours all the way back to Český Krumlov.
Zlata Koruna - the Monastery:
This is situated approximately 8 km from Český Krumlov, in the beautiful area of ancient oaks. You can get there by a boat as well.
In spite of this, there are some camping areas where to have a rest /pitch a tent.
REFRESHEMENT:
You can not be wrong in choosing the retaurant i Cesky Krumlov.
Hospoda (Pub) Ninety-nine, situated nearby Budejovicka Gate - main entrance to the old town). In this restaurant you can get tasty meals (untill 11 p.m. )for reasonable prices (i.e. a beer for approx. 30 Czech Crowns).
